The Alto Inambari subregion in Puno‘s Sandia Valley is home to some of the most distinct and coveted coffees in the world. Puno is characterized by its varied landscapes, ranging from deep, hot jungle to the highest, iciest mountains of the Andes. It's also the fifth highest city in the world at almost 4,000 meters above sea level.
Primitiva Apaza Quea has been cultivating coffee on her farm Paltaypampa, a quechua word that means "mountain where the avocados grows," for over a decade. We look forward to her coffees every year, and found this lot to be the best of her offerings.
