The Red 5 de Diciembre network is part of the La Cañada regional cooperative representing 1,300 small indigenous producers. Over the past eight years this group has been working to improve selective harvesting, specialty processing and marketing of higher value lots. This year’s microlot exemplifies this progression, having been separated for it’s exceptional quality.

In short, we’ve been buying coffee from Red 5 since 2019 and this is the best lot yet. The profile is juicy with refreshing acidity, and tasting notes of tangerine, candied pecan, and orange blossom. It reflects the best of what La Cañada has to offer as a region, blessed with high altitude and cooler weather in the northern mountains of Oaxaca.
